Overview
The final phases of the decade-long Heathside & Lethbridge redevelopment brought with it some of the most complex facade challenges in the entire scheme.
With 443 residential units spread across uniquely shaped buildings, this project demanded precision, flexibility, and proactive problem-solving at every stage.
LockMetal was chosen for our detail-oriented approach, robust standardised designs, and track record of managing complex cladding interfaces. We delivered a full-service solution – from early design through to final installation – on time and without compromise.
The challenge
Featuring curved elevations, over 80 bespoke cill types, and diverse balcony details, this was not a standard facade project.
• Curved building forms required bespoke detailing at scale, particularly around window cills and balcony interfaces.
• Over 80 types of cills, including curved cills fixed to multiple substrates, meant tolerance, water management, and aesthetic continuity had to be achieved in spite of design intricacies.
• Mid-project, the access strategy was significantly altered, forcing us to reconfigure sequencing and adapt on the go.
• Ardmore’s phasing meant most blocks were live simultaneously, adding pressure to logistics.

Heathside & Lethbridge
Results
Despite a highly pressured environment and evolving conditions on site, LockMetal delivered every element of the cladding scope on time and on budget.
While the project’s demanding pace and logistical constraints proved too much for several subcontractors, our flexible mindset and commitment meant we stayed the course.
Our experienced project managers carefully balanced the need for costly mid-construction site surveys with the benefits of flexible, offsite-manufactured designs. This, combined with our ability to manage risk and think creatively, helped Ardmore navigate the most complex stages of this regeneration scheme – ultimately bringing hundreds of homes closer to completion.
Other projects

“It’s been really good working with LockMetal. They’re very user-friendly, from operatives and on-site supervisors through to management stepping in when an issue needs solving. We worked closely with them to change the brick-slip panels at the window heads to PPC metal panels, which made installation easier and resolved an incompatibility issue with the bricks. I’d definitely use LockMetal again on a similar scheme.”
