Park View Estate
“The design and installation of the product went well and I was very pleased with LockMetal’s performance.”

Overview
Set within a densely populated area in Islington, the Park View Estate regeneration project involved the construction of 40 new residential flats across five compact blocks, interwoven between existing occupied buildings.
LockMetal was brought in to deliver a specialist cladding package that balanced architectural ambition with practical execution. Our consultative approach, commitment to minimising any disruption to residents, and devotion to detail were all central to Park View Estate’s success.
The solution
LockMetal worked closely with Mulalley from the outset, acting as a complete facade partner to simplify and de-risk delivery.
• We collaborated with the architect and contractor to value engineer the specification, replacing oxidised copper with powder-coated aluminium to deliver the desired aesthetic in a more cost-effective, durable, and low-maintenance form.
• Our team supported the development of a white, gold, and grey colour solution, helping achieve a subtle, premium finish that complemented surrounding buildings.
• Progressing the detailed design to RIBA Stage 4, ensuring full compliance with current regulations while delivering a pragmatic, buildable, and cost-effective solution.
• On-site, we adapted our operations to the constraints of the live estate environment, assigning dedicated banksmen for every delivery vehicle, holding daily briefings focused on safety and resident relations, and coordinating closely with Mulalley’s resident liaison officers to ensure minimal disruption.
• Our sequencing and delivery planning were designed specifically for tight plots, allowing work to proceed safely and efficiently despite limited access.

Results
The project was delivered on time and on budget, despite its complexities. LockMetal’s consultative approach, site sensitivity, and technical expertise helped Mulalley achieve a high-quality finish that elevated the appearance of the estate – without compromising buildability or resident wellbeing.
Where others might have walked away, we stayed the course, working through challenges with agility and focus to deliver exactly what we promised. The project showcased our core values – acting not just as a contractor, but as a true facade consultant and partner: agile, collaborative, and committed to delivering practical, buildable solutions that enhance the buildings we live and work in.

The challenge
This project presented a unique blend of spatial, material, and stakeholder pressures.
• The site was highly constrained, with only one road in and out – shared with residents living in surrounding buildings.
• Mulalley needed to deliver a facade with visual impact, using premium finishes to complement existing stock without clashing.
• The original design specified oxidised copper cladding, which presented challenges around cost, sourcing, installation, and long-term maintenance.
• The working environment demanded sensitivity: all construction activities took place alongside an active residential community.
